This is a brief time-line of the discovery and progression of Electronic Voice Phenomena!
1920's- Thomas Edison was very close to his mother. Before she died he had thought
of the idea of making a way to communicate with her after she passed. After she did
pass, he and his assistant Dr. Miller Hutchison started to build a device that would be
called the Thomas Edison Communicator or TEC. Thomas Edison never got a chance to
finish the device. The International Ghost Society now uses the device. It is like a big
microphone with no recording device. This of course has been debated, some believe
that he never left any paperwork on his invention, so it was never completed. Whichever it
is, Thomas Edison was the first to think of the idea of communicating with spirits through
electronic equipment!
1950's and 1960's- Many discoveries, experiments, and lots of progress was made during this time.
Friedrich Jurgenson- Friedrich Jurgenson was a Swedish film producer. While doing a
documentary film on birds, he went out to dub bird sounds for the movie. On listening
back, he made an incredible discovery! He heard voices, even though no one else was
around during the recording session. One of the voices was of his deceased mother
whom called him by a nickname known only by her! After hearing that, he went on to
record for many more years and studied the phenomena with great enthusiasm! Many
people dub him with the title "Father of Evp"!
Konstantin Raudive- Konstantin Raudive was a German professor of psychology. He
began documenting thousands of voices of spirits he received through strict recording
conditions. He later put his findings together in a book called "Breakthrough". He had a
hard time with other psychologist and other well known people. However, he became
intensely popular and many call Evp by the name "Raudive Voices".
1970's- Sarah Estep has made great progress in the phenomena, and I believe, without
her the phenomena would not be as well known as it is today! Sarah has recorded
regularly and made the class system that most Evp researchers use today. She has
been dubbed with the title "Mother of Evp"! Below is her class system.
Class System of E.V.P.s
Class A: Recorded message that people usually agree upon, also headphones are not required. These are the rarest
Evps to capture.
Class B: This recording requires the use of headphones, also people tend to hear different messages. This is the most
common captured Evps.
Class C: This recording requires editing as well as headphones and are still seldom heard by others. These are captured
very often, sometimes they are so disputable that they are not even shared to the public but saved for personal benefit.
